David Howard.
Founder
David began his career as a documentary filmmaker at BBC Wales, where he directed a variety of acclaimed programmes. These included biographies of the singer Dorothy Squires, the actress Rachel Roberts and the writer Jean Rhys. He is twice nominated for the BAFTA Cymru award for Best Director and has won the Broadcast Award for Best Documentary and The Royal Television Society award for Journalism.
David subsequently worked as a series director and producer on a wide variety of programmes for major UK broadcasters. Since forming Monster Films, he has acted as the company’s creative director, overseen development, and continued to direct many of the company’s premium documentary programmes.
Rik Hall.
Founder
Rik is an award-winning producer and journalist with over 25 years in the TV and Film industry.
Having made numerous award-winning shorts at school and university, he first found critical acclaim with the Channel 4 Secret History documentary strand in 2003. Over the years he’s worked for major production companies including Tiger Aspect, ITN Productions and October Films, producing landmark documentaries for major US broadcasters such as History, SKY1, Smithsonian and UK broadcasters including the BBC and Discovery. He has also made 3 award winning feature films.
A seasoned Exec Producer, he launched Monster Films with business partner David Howard in 2016, where he has produced over 200 hours of factual content for BBC, Channel 4, Discovery, NBC Universal, CBS Reality and History. Monster Films has already been BAFTA nominated twice, won the Broadcast Award for Best Documentary and The Royal Television Society award for Journalism. It is represented by the APA agency in the USA.
